So last Saturday I was having a tough time breathing all day at work....but I was trying to see if it would just get better on its own. When it didn't I was forced to use my inhaler....I took 3-4 puffs of it during work....and it didn't help much. So I figured I just had to wait a while....
At home the breathing improved for a bit so I thought it was coming to an end. However around 8 pm it came back...and it was getting worse.
My fingers and face started getting numb and I was dizzy and tried my inhaler about 4 more times. It was not helping at all
I had never had an asthma attack where my inhaler didn't help. So finally around 10 pm I couldn't take it anymore. I called 911. By that time it was hard to even speak. The paramedics came and put me on a nasal cannula for oxygen....but that helped only a few minutes. Once in the ambulance I struggled breathing again. So they then added a nebulizer which had albuterol and something else in it. They also started an IV in the ambulance and that nebulizer was what did the trick. A few times I felt I would pass out and my whole body was feeling numb.
Once at the hospital they gave me an EKG and chest x rays and all that stiff. Everything was looking pretty normal but one of the EKGs concerned the doctor enough for him to say I needed to see a heart doctor. I've never had an abnormal EKG so this is new....and I almost wonder if it came out abnormal because of how I was breathing.
So then Monday came and my breathing was still not 100% and I had made plans to go with a friend of mine to Canada to see Niagara Falls. The doctors originally weren't gonna be able to get me in for an appointment right away and I told them to call me if there was a cancellation and thank God they called just a few minutes after my first call and someone cancelled and I was able to get in right away.
While at the doctors they put me on a nebulizer again and it didn't seem to help as much as the time in the ambulance. So they also did another EKG and there is an interval in it that they said was a bit concerning but he said it may be just because of how I'm breathing. And they made the discovery that my inhaler expired back in 2011....most likely the reason it stopped working for me. So they got me a new inhaler and I went to Canada and made it through even though my breathing was still not all that great. but I took it easy as I could.
So yesterday I did another follow up with the doctor and they did another EKG but this time my breathing was getting better, even if it still wasn't 100%.
However the EKG still showed that same abnormality. My heart simply is not beating correctly. So I have to go see a cardiologist.
send me some prayers guys.
